Snow Squall Warning For Northern NJ

Breaking: Drivers should be prepared for whiteout conditions caused by the squall.

A snow squall warning has been issued for most of northern New Jersey, and drivers could experience whiteout conditions, the National Weather Service said.

The warning is in effect through 1:30 p.m. in the following areas: I-78, I-476, US-22, US-222 near Allentown, PA--NJ; I-287, I-78, I-80, US-202 near New York--Newark, NY--NJ--CT; I-476 near Philadelphia, PA--NJ--DE--MD and I-78, US-222 near Reading, PA. The counties affected include Morris, Warren, Sussex, and Hunterdon.

Drivers could experience whiteout conditions and the NWS said travel could be dangerous or even life threatening.

A snow squall happens when strong gusts of winds blow snow around. They are similar to blizzard conditions, but don't always result in snow accumulation.
