Summer Water Restrictions In Place For Schooley's Mountain
Make sure you know the rules before you water your lawn.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — In an effort to conserve water, restrictions on outdoor water use have been put into place for Schooley's Mountain residents over the summer, the Washington Township Municipal Utilities Authority announced.
The restrictions are in effect between May 15 and Sept. 15, and impact those living north of Springtown Road, including the Fawnridge tract and anyone north of it.
Watering lawns, trees, gardens, shrubs, or partially refilling pools or hot tubs is banned during the weekend, and weekday watering will run on an even/odd schedule (those who live in even numbered houses may water on even numbered weekdays, and odd numbered homes on odd numbered weekdays).

Residents can only water their lawn between 7 a.m. and 8 a.m., or 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Anyone with newly laid sod or seeded grass must obtain a permit from the MUA to water daily, and must still only water during the posted hours.
Gardens and flowers must be watered with either a watering can, handheld hose that does not leak, or "alternative irrigation technology that minimizes water use and is used with a timer to ensure watering for no more than 2 hours per area watered."

Partially refilling pools or spas also follows the even/odd schedule. Those who need to drain and refill their pool or spa totally must obtain a permit ahead of time. Kiddie pools and sprinklers are exempt.
