Where To Grab Some Cool Treats And Ice Cream In Long Valley

Just in time for National Ice Cream Month and Day, there are stops in Long Valley that have some great offerings.

LONG VALLEY, NJ — With the holiday weekend ahead and summer overall an ideal time to refresh with some creamy goodness, Long Valley and Washington Township boast some ice cream choices and other sweet treats at different places for the Independence Day weekend and beyond.

Each person in the United States eats about 23 gallons of ice cream on an average each year, which was among the reasons why the International Dairy Foods Association says July was set by Presidential Proclamation in 1984 as National Ice Cream Month, with the third Sunday in July celebrated as National Ice Cream Day.

Ort Farms’ Farm Store on 25 Bartley Road, open Monday through Saturday, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., carries ice cream from Tranquillity Farms in the Allamuchy/Green Township areas and ice cream sandwiches from Taylor’s Ice Cream Parlor in Chester in their market.

Then there’s a Baskin-Robbins in Long Valley’s Dunkin’ on 62 East Mill Road, with a range of ice cream and sorbet flavors, plus cakes and Iced Tea Freezes, which is sorbet blended with ice cream and black tea, in either blackberry hibiscus or mango flavors.

There’s also Rita’s, a new addition to Long Valley on Schooleys Mountain Road at Hastings Square, known for frozen treats like Cream Ices, Italian ices (including sugar-free), Gelatis, Misto Shakes, Frozen Custards, Blendinis, milkshakes and more.

Speaking of treats, what goes better with ice cream than some chocolates? The Chocolate Shoppe in Long Valley on 62 East Mill Road has created some handcrafted, chocolate treats, just for the Independence Day holiday.

The Chocolate Shoppe is open on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., for some last-minute July 4th treats.
