4 Mahwah Businesses Stood Out For The Right Reasons In 2020
Selected by Patch readers, these businesses went above and beyond in a year worth forgetting.

MAHWAH, NJ — In a year worth forgetting, a number of Mahwah businesses were anything but forgetful. And for the right reasons.
Restaurants in particular played a big role in making 2020 a little more bearable, as, throughout the duration of the coronavirus pandemic, take-out, and, eventually, outdoor dining, brought a sense of normalcy to a year that was anything but.
Other businesses beyond restaurants stepped up in a big way too, and Patch readers cited a number of reasons why these establishments should be considered the best of the year.

"Touch of Class [are] the best cleaners in the area and the owner, Mike, goes above and beyond for his customers. Even with adjusted hours due to COVID, every order gets cleaned in a timely manner," said customer Ava Bertone.
Sonny & Tony's
Sonny & Tony's were nominated for their transition to take-out dining while maintaining a high level of care.
"Offered their full menu for take-out. Great food. Did a steady business with great customer service," said Brenda Calandrillo, a customer.
Hairapy
"Hairapy proprietor Sandy Schwartz relocated her salon business from the Acme shopping center to the Mahwah depot plaza a year or two ago. She invested in downtown Mahwah with inside renovations and a constant stream of nice window displays. At the beginning of the pandemic, Hairapy was closed. Once allowed to open, Sandy and her staff put all safety measures in place and clearly communicated them to customers. Sandy and her staff continue to provide excellent service, are cheerful and are an integral part of the Mahwah business community. I have been a customer of Sandy's for 14 years," said Debra Utko.
Mahwah Deli
There are few things more synonymous with New Jersey life than the local deli. This one in Mahwah was cited for remaining friendly and accommodating during a dark year.
"Social distancing, limited people in store, but they never closed or shortened their hours. Friendly, very accommodating," said customer Brenda Calandrillo.
