$50 Million Bergen Mansion Is The Most Expensive In N.J. — And No One Wants It
The Stone Mansion features gold sinks, 19 bathrooms, indoor basketball court, 4,000-bottle wine cellar, and a fitness center.
The mansion has been on the market for five years. It's list price of nearly $50 million is $10 million less than what it was when the 19-bathroom mansion first went on the market CNN reported. The average home price in Alpine, which is about eight miles from New York City, is $5 million. There are, in fact, dozens of homes in Bergen County listed at that price point, or more.
The 30,000-square-foot home boasts an indoor basketball court, 4,000-bottle wine cellar, movie theater, fitness center, and elevator.

"We're trying to attract an urban buyer who seeks refuge from urban living without a three-hour commute," Leonard Steinberg, president of Compass, a luxury real estate listing service, told CNN in a recent interview.
But refuge comes at a price.

Annual taxes on the 30,000-square-foot home are $300,000.
"At this price point, you are supposed to be buying a property that's supposed to deliver on every level," Steinberg said in the CNN.com piece.
