Bergen Pitcher To Sign With Major League's Los Angeles Angels

Max Hermann had 29 strikeouts, 6 saves and a 3.31 ERA for the Rutgers Scarlet Knights this season.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A local pitcher will sign a contract with Major League Baseball's Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

Max Hermann, a Rutherford native, ranks second in Rutgers University history with 86 appearances and third with 15 saves, notching 92 strikeouts in 128 innings.

As Scarlet Knight senior captain in 2017, he had six saves with 29 strikeouts and held opponents to a .242 batting average.

"I'm extremely thrilled and excited to continue my baseball career," Hermann said. "I'm forever grateful for Rutgers and would like to thank all of my teammates and coaches along the way."

Hermann is a graduate student at Rutgers' School of Management and Labor Relations. He has a 4.0 grade point average. He was a four-time academic all-conference honoree.
