Bergen Runner Wins National Track Championship
Jeremy Hernandez set a new national record in the 1-mile race.
MAHWAH, NJ — Jeremy Hernandez won the 2018 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship in the 1-mile race Saturday.
Hernandez, a Clifton native and senior at Ramapo College of New Jersey in Mahwah, broke the NCAA Championship Meet record with a time of 4:05.95, breaking the old record by more than two seconds, the college announced.
Hernandez took a huge lead in the race and out ran his competitors by more than five seconds.

Hernandez set the NCAA Division III 1-mile record of 3:59.01 Feb. 25 at the BU Last Chance Invitational.
