MAHWAH, NJ — A Mahwah couple is suing the Bronx rapper A Boogie Wit da Hoodie for over $260,000 in damages caused to their home while the rapper and co-CEO of his label, Quincy Acheampong, were staying there.

According to court filings, A Boogie, born Artist Dubose, and Acheampong entered into a lease agreement with Lawrence and Carolyn Guarino, who own a property on Finn Court, in September 2017.

Filed by Chubb Insurance Company in Bergen County Superior Court last Wednesday, the lawsuit said Dubose and Acheampong abandoned the property without notice sometime prior to December 2018, leaving "significant damage to all areas of the home."

Entry doors were left open, landscaping was damaged, carpets were cut out with mismatched pieces replacing "damages, stains and tears throughout" and two vehicles were abandoned on the property, according to the allegations.

Additionally, the lawsuit said damages, including "bathroom toilets clogged and overrun by sewerage material which penetrated through the floors and damaging ceilings below," left the home in a state that is unable to lease until extensive repairs are completed.

When Lawrence Guarino entered the property around Dec. 13, he filed a report with the Mahwah Police Department citing damage and possible vandalism to the home, according to court documents. Now, the Guarino family is seeking over $260,000 in damages and a jury trial to settle the suit.

This isn't the first time Dubose has been confronted with legal issues in Bergen County.

The rapper was arrested at his home in December after detectives from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office seized guns, ammunition and marijuana. He was charged with one count of unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of marijuana and a disorderly persons offense.

Originally from the Highbridge neighborhood of the Bronx, Dubose first gained notoriety in 2016 along with collaborator Don Q. He was signed to Atlantic Records the same year.

A rapper-singer hybrid, Dubose was named a XXL Freshman in 2017. His biggest records include 2019's "Look Back At It" and 2017's "Drowning", featuring the South Florida rapper Kodak Black.
