Decorated Bergen Softball Coach Dies
Anthony LaRezza, 50, won three consecutive Bergen County championships and racked up 338 wins while coach of Immaculate Heart Academy.

WASHINGTON, NJ – Beloved Immaculate Heart softball coach Anthony LaRezza has died of complications from tongue cancer, The Record reported. He was 50.
LaRezza notched 338 wins as a softball coach, good for 20th on the all-time North Jersey wins list, the report stated.
His team was the No. 1-ranked team in North Jersey last season and won the Non-Public A state championship, the 10th in school history, according to the report.

LaRezza’s teams won four Bergen County championships, including three straight from 2011 to 2013.
LaRezza was a Newark fireman.

Lou Brogno, a producer with North Jersey Sports, said on Twitter that LaRezza will be “greatly missed.”
