Mahwah Companies Got Over $500K In Virus Relief Funds

MAHWAH, NJ — The federal government has sent more than $2.4 billion to companies in New Jersey for coronavirus relief efforts since Congress passed the CARES Act in March.

More than $500,000 of that federal money ended up in Mahwah, most of which going to Shock Tech, Inc., according to the Federal Procurement Data System.

The list of companies getting CARES Act contracts includes Howmedica Osteonics Corp. But the list of payments also includes smaller awards to small businesses ranging from hardware stores to daycare centers to companies that manufacture medical equipment.

Congress passed the $2 trillion Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act on March 27. In addition to direct aid to people who lost their jobs and the Paycheck Protection Program to help small businesses avoid laying off workers, the act included direct government spending for fighting the coronavirus.
