Mahwah Girl Is NJ's Top Ski Racer For 3rd Straight Year

Sydney Loverich started skiing when she was 5 and racing when she was 9.

MAHWAH, NJ — Sydney Loverich started skiing when she was 5. She started racing when she was 9.

Since then, she's just gotten better.

Loverich has been ranked New Jersey's No. 1 ski racer by the New Jersey Ski Racing Association's Under 19 Division.

Three years ago, Loverich moved from Vermont to New Jersey and joined the New Jersey Ski Racing Association as an amateur alpine ski racer. She races at Mount Peter in Warwick, New York.

Loverich competed in the Eastern Region Finals at Gore Mountain recently, finishing the giant slalom in 10th place.

Loverich is a senior at the Academy of Holy Angels in Demarest. She plans to continuing competitively ski race in college while pursuing a career in anesthesiology.
