Mahwah Pitcher Drafted By The Cincinnati Reds

MAHWAH, NJ — The Cincinnati Reds selected Cory Heitler in the 34th round of the Major League Baseball Draft Wednesday.

Heitler, a Fair Lawn High School alumnus, is a junior at Ramapo College of New Jersey.

Heitler has been dominate for Ramapo this season, pitching a no-hitter and two shutouts while opponents battled just .174 against him.

Heitler, (6'2," 200 pounds) also set the single-season strikeout record at Ramapo with his 112th of the season during the NCAA Regional Tournament.

He finished this season with a 2.34 earned run average and an 8-2 record, pitching four complete games.

Heitler was named to the D3baseball.com Mid-Atlantic All-Region Second Team and Second Team All-Conference.

Heitler is the third Ramapo College baseball player selected in the MLB Draft in the last six years and one of just 11 NCAA Division III athletes picked over the draft's last three days.

Heitler is majoring in business administration. In high school, he was named to the All-County second team. He was team captain and most valuable player in 2015.
