Mahwah Schools To Resume 5 Day In-Person Learning
The change is slated for March 15 at secondary schools in the district, and later in the month for elementary students.

MAHWAH, NJ — Administrators have approved a plan that will see students at the district's secondary schools attending class in person five days a week starting March 15.
This news comes after the Mahwah administrative team presented a phase two plan for reentry at a recent Board of Education meeting.
Secondary learners, or those in grades six through 12, will still learn in-person for four hour periods, but the district is merging cohorts A and B. The daily instruction schedule remains the same.

Elementary students will also be learning more in-person, but they'll have to wait to return to the classroom daily.
District administrators have set a tentative start date for this phase on March 29 at elementary schools, but it isn't set in stone.

"This is dependent on a number of factors specific to transportation and the acquisition of proper PPE," the administrative team wrote in a letter to the district.
The elementary reentry team is adjusting instructional schedules for this increased learning time, and transportation contractors are reviewing how they can support this new instructional schedule. That includes the creation of new bus routes, administrators said.
As it stands, virtual Wednesday will continue through March at the elementary school level.
Students can still learn remotely under this plan, with instruction continuing via Zoom.
There are pre-planned dates for these learners to rejoin their classmates, but they've yet to be announced as a review process is still ongoing.
"After we have increased our in-person learning experience, we will take the time to review our success, correct our errors, monitor our overall health and wellness, allowing this program to stabilize before we make any additional changes, such as adding our fully-remote students to our on-site program," administrators said.
