MAHWAH, NJ — Kevin Wilkins, a defensive lineman for Rutgers University, has signed with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent.

Mike Jones of USA Today first reported the Eagles signing Wilkins.

It has been said by some that the St. Joseph's High School alumnus has story similar to that featured in "The Blind Side."

He was taken away from his mother when he was 5 due to her drug habit. Men from the state came in and took him away from his family.

"She knew what was going on, I didn't," Wilkins told Rutgers University. "I cried so hard I puked in the car."

Wilkins and his brother and sister were taken to different foster homes.

"We didn't even know where we were going," Wilkins said.

He wanted to see his mom so bad one time he jumped out of a moving car to run back to see his mom, he said in the Rutgers interview.

But Wilkins was adopted by the Wilkins family. He worked hard while at St. Joseph's in Montvale and attended Rutgers University. He eventually saw his mother and developed a relationship with her, NJ.com reported in October. Now, he and both of his moms are close.

"I'm not a finished product yet. Nobody is," Wilkins told NJ.com. "I'm just going to keep working and hoping my story continues to be something great and have a great ending."
