Myron 'Mike' Adler, Major Ramapo College Supporter, Died Tuesday

Adler suffered from aphasia, a communications disorder, and founded the Adler Aphasia Center to help others with the condition.

Myron “Mike” Adler, a Franklin Lakes philanthropist and businessman who, together with his wife, strived to help people suffering from aphasia, died Tuesday, The Record reported.

Adler, 91, and his wife, Elaine, founded the Adler Aphasia Center in 2003. Aphasia is a communications disorder affects the way people produce or comprehend speech and the ability to read or write. It is most often caused by a stroke, which Adler suffered in 1993.

Adler and his family owned the Maywood-based Myron Corp., a major promotional products manufacturer.

The Adlers have been longtime supporters of Ramapo College. They gave $2 million towards establishing the Adler Center for Nursing Excellence at the Mahwah college.

Adler is survived by his wife, four children, Bill, Ricky, Jim, and Marie, and 11 grandchildren, The Record reported.
