North Jersey's Marina Alex Finishes Tops Among Americans At U.S. Women's Open

'Thank you to the incredible fans who supported me throughout this week,' Alex said.

New Jersey's Marina Alex finished 11th at the U.S. Women's Open Golf Championship in Bedminster this weekend.

The Wayne native finished the tournament at the Trump National Golf Club at -4, the best score by an American and tied with Minjee Lee of Australia.

Alex was appreciative of the support she received during the tournament.

She also posted about the experience on Instagram.

Alex has earned slightly more than $1 million since joining the tour in 2013. She made the cut in 19 events and had a career-high three top-10 finishes in 2016.

She is an alumnus of Vanderbilt University. Golf runs in her family. Her father competes in senior amature golf events and her brother Anthony plays for Florida State University.
