Pub Giving A Year Of Free Meals To Women Who Propose On Feb. 29

Shannon Rose Irish Pub – which has locations in Ramsey and Clifton – will honor women who pop the question with a year of free food.

RAMSEY, NJ – A pub in northern New Jersey is offering free food for a year to any woman who follows the Irish tradition of popping the question to her boyfriend on Leap Day.

According to the tradition, on Feb. 29 women are encouraged to take matters into their own hands when it comes to proposing, rather than waiting for their significant other to get down on one knee. The custom began as a way to help women who felt their partner was taking too long to pop the question, according to Irish Central.com.

As a way to pay homage to tradition, Shannon Rose Irish Pub – which has locations in Ramsey and Clifton – will give women who propose at the restaurant on Feb. 29 a year’s worth of meals.
