Residents Can Cool Off From Heat At Mahwah Library
Temperatures are forecast to be in the mid- to upper 90s through Friday and a heat index between 105 and 110 degrees Saturday.
MAHWAH, NJ — Residents seeking an escape from the stifling temperatures blanketing North Jersey can go to the library.
The library is at 100 Ridge Road. It is open until 5 p.m. weekdays and Saturday. It is closed Sunday.
Bergen County officials opened five cooling centers earlier this week. Temperatures are forecast to be in the mid- to upper 90s through Friday and a heat index between 105 and 110 degrees Saturday.

Cooling centers are at the following locations and open on the following days:
- County administration building, 1 Bergen County Plaza, Hackensack, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday
- Northwest Bergen Senior Activity Center, 46-50 Center St., Midland Park, Friday and Monday
- Southwest Bergen Senior Activity Center, 147 Hackensack St., East Rutherford, Friday and Monday
- Bergenfield Senior center, 293 Murray Hill Terrace, Friday and Monday
- Bergen County Housing, Health, and Human Services Center, 120 South River St., Hackensack, everyday
All cooling centers are open from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for the Bergen County Housing, Health, and Human Services Center, which opens at 9:30 a.m.

Officials recommend that residents stay indoors if possible from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. when the sun is at its strongest and burns and heat strokes are more likely to occur.
