Santa Is On His Way To Mahwah Museum

The man in the red suit will swing by the museum on Dec. 20.

MAHWAH, NJ - Get into the spirit of the season at Mahwah Museum by checking out its holiday train display and meeting Santa Claus.

On Dec. 20, Santa will be at the museum from 7 to 7:30 p.m. to greet locals, according to the museum.

Extra hours were recently announced by the museum for locals to come see the special display.

The Donald Cooper Model Railroad - a 15 x 20 foot scale model - will be open on Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. from Nov. 29 through Dec. 20, according to the museum. The display will also be available to view on Saturdays and Sundays between 1 and 4 p.m.

The railroad model operates more than 11 trains and contains street fairs, a skateboard park, a subway system, construction sites and a replica of the Great Falls in Paterson.

It is also open from weekends, from 1 to 4 p.m. between September and June.

The museum is located at 201 Franklin Turnpike and open weekends and Wednesdays from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission $5 for non-members, while members and children are free.

When the museum reopened for the season on Sept. 22, it unveiled three new exhibits:

  • Palisades Amusement Park Comes to Mahwah

Permanent displays at the museum are Les Paul in Mahwah and The Donald Cooper Model Railroad.
