Top NJ Mahwah Prospect Chooses College Over MLB: Report
Mahwah catcher Kyle Teel will attend the University of Virginia and will not sign an MLB contract if selected, according to a report.
MAHWAH, NJ — Mahwah High School baseball standout Kyle Teel will be attending the University of Virginia next year rather than signing with a major league team if drafted, according to northjersey.com.
Despite being projected in the top three rounds of this summer's MLB draft, Teel informed Virginia coaches of his decision at the end of April, according to the report. Heel, a four-year starter for Mahwah and the top prospect in New Jersey, told the publication he had been weighing the decision for months.
