Visitation, Funeral Mass For Ed Sinclair Are Tuesday And Wednesday

Sinclair, former Mahwah DPW director, was found dead in his home last week.

Visitation for Ed Sinclair will be held at St. Paul R.C. Church in Ramsey Tuesday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m.

A funeral mass for Sinclair will be held Wednesday at St. Paul’s at 9:30 a.m.

Sinclair was found dead in his home Thursday, the victim of a heart attack. He was 57.

Sinclair was the director of the Mahwah Department of Public Works. He was a longtime Mahwah resident.

He was a member of Mahwah Fire Department Company 2 for more than 30 years, was company chief for two years, and a past president, his obituary states. He was a life member of the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association and a former member of Ambulance Company 1.

Sinclair also coached Youth Street Hockey and was “an invaluable assistant” to Boy Scouts working to earn their Eagle Scout rank, the obituary states.

“[Sinclair] was an avid New York Giants fan and will be remembered for singing “Under the Boardwalk” and ”Sloop John B.”

He is survived by wife, Jackie (nee Carpenter) of 24 years, daughter Melissa Hartig, and her husband Jason, and his son Benjamin; grandsons Jake and Charlie; parents John and Kathleen of Mahwah; sisters Anne Holmes and her husband, David and Teresa; sister-in-law Sandra; sister-in-law Debbie Doris, and her husband Kevin, brother-in-law Alan Carpenter and wife Diane, and brother-in-law Michael Carpenter; and many nieces and nephews: Caleb, Aaron, Bonnie, Charlie, John, Leianne, Craig, Joseph, Cassandra, Courtney, Christine, and William.

He was predeceased by his brother, Thomas.

Internment will be at Maryrest Cemetery in Mahwah.
