Where Did We Go Wrong?
It’s been a long time since we have been together in a flash we passed through Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day and almost passed Valentine’s day…. or so it seems. Along the way I hope all of you have had the best holiday season ever and best wishes to you and yours as we begin 2019 together.
2019? It seems like just the other day we were panicking and preparing for this Y2K thing, remember? All the water and transistor radios disappeared off the shelves and we weren’t sure we’d ever see our life savings again. That’s almost 20 years ago? Soon it will be 20 years since 9-11, yes THAT 9-11.

As we begin a new year this is an opportune time to see what has transpired and what to expect as we change our calendars.
As we review rites of passage it seems, the year begins with a rarity—the University of Alabama got absolutely trashed in the NCAA football championship game at the hands of Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers. As an SEC fan I don’t like either team but I must admire the effort and tenacity of Dabo’s men, and without question there were 2 future NFL QBs on display last night

Locally the Pigskin Professionals in our area once again contemplate how to fix this year’s mistakes in time for next season. The Giants appear stuck at a crossroads having difficulty in deciding how to say good bye to Eli who hasn’t won much since 2011. Equally as perturbed, the JETSjetsjetsjets seem baffled as what to do about a coach. Todd Bowles was dismissed right after the season ending debacle in New England and while the Jets have conducted interviews for his replacement, there seems to be lack of juice or excitement about any candidates. This might be because the candidates the Jets would like to talk to are still in the playoffs, signed to other teams, or just not interested---remember these are the Jets
Our hockey season in this area is just about over already as the Rangers and Devils flounder near the bottom of the division out of the playoffs and the Islanders a feathers width above them. The lone bit of excitement in hockey here has been the Islanders returning to their former home to play some games at the Nassau Coliseum while they wait for a new arena to be built-----that’s how bad they want out of Brooklyn
Speaking of Brooklyn, the lone basketball entry professionally worth commenting on is the Brooklyn Nets getting passed the .500 mark and entertaining real playoff possibilities for the first time in a long time, The Knicks are a disaster sad to say and not worth a watch or a mention.
One lone positive is the start of the new season on the PGA tour, as pro golf features its first full membership stop this week in Hawaii. Nothing like prime time golf nightly with scenes from far away warming our hearts----and hot chocolate…. MIHALO!!!!!!
