Belmar Man Arrested For DUI After Crash: Police
A Belmar man was charged with driving while under the influence after a Wall Township crash this week, police said.

A Belmar man was charged with driving while under the influence after his vehicle crashed and overturned this week in Wall Township, police said.
Michael J. Spivak, 28, of Belmar was arrested and also charged with possession of marijuana under 50 grams, reckless driving and failure to maintain his lane, police said.
After his arrest, Spivak was transported to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution.

The accident happened on Wednesday at approximately 8:28 a.m. when the Wall Township Police Department responded to the intersection of Route 138 and Allenwood Road on a report of a motor vehicle collision and an overturned vehicle.
The investigation revealed that Spivak was operating a 2019 Hyundai Kona westbound on Route 138 approaching Allenwood Road when he failed to observe the red traffic signal, police said.

Spivak's vehicle left the roadway, resulting in a collision with the traffic light stanchion. After colliding with the traffic light stanchion, Spivak’s vehicle then overturned and collided with a 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan that was operated by a 45-year-old man from Brick, police said.
The intersection of Route 138 and Allenwood Road was closed for approximately and hour-and-a-half while the traffic light was repaired. No injuries were reported.
The Wall Township Police EMS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation and the Glendola Fire Department all responded to the scene and assisted.
