BELMAR—With summer around the corner, the borough of Belmar introduced two ordinances at their May 4 meeting to make changes to the borough code in the wake of the state’s legalization of marijuana.

The first ordinance introduced would see the change to borough code regarding smoking on the beachfront, with now anything cannabis-related being on the banned list, with a fine of $200.

The other ordinance introduced at the meeting would see the use of vaporizers and other electronic smoking devices, for either tobacco or cannabis, prohibited at all borough parks and other properties.
