Belmar's 31st Annual Sandcastle Contest Coming Up In July

Start practicing now.

Hone your sandcastle building skills before Belmar holds its 31st annual New Jersey Sandcastle Contest on July 12 at the 18th Avenue beach.

Registration for the free competition begins at 8 a.m. The judging begins at noon. The awards ceremony begins at 1 p.m. and the displays will remain until at least 5 p.m.

There are a number of categories for different age groups. They include:

Age 7 and under
Age 8-11
Age 12-15
Age 16 and over
Camps and Recreation
Family
Classic Sandcastle
There are first, second and third prizes in each category, including an overall "Best in Beach."

The rain date for the event is July 13.
