Belmar's Senior Population Almost Fully Vaccinated From COVID

Despite the positive numbers regarding the senior citizen populations, a little more than half the adult population aren't fully vaccinated.

BELMAR – Belmar is close to having all of its citizens 65 years old and older fully vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine. However, according to recent findings, a little half of the total adult population still needs to get their second shot or a single-shot vaccine.

For the first time Monday, the New Jersey Department of Health released town-level data on COVID-19 vaccinations. The state's COVID-19 dashboard now reveals the percentage of all people, adults, and seniors who have been partially or fully vaccinated in each city and town.

  • Belmar population with at least one dose: 51 percent of all ages, 61 percent of adults (18 and older), and 96 percent of seniors (65 and older).
  • Belmar population fully vaccinated: 39 percent of all ages, 47 percent of adults, and 85 percent of seniors.

State officials set a goal to fully vaccinate 70 percent of all adults, about 4.7 million people, by the end of June. As of Monday afternoon, about 3.6 million people in New Jersey have been fully vaccinated. All people 16 and older are eligible for vaccination in New Jersey, but sixteen- and 17-year-olds can only get the Pfizer vaccine.
