High School Reporters Cover National News With Local Angle

A pair of Communications High School journalists have taken on the federal government shutdown in a story about how the Washington D.C. brinksmanship has affected daily life in the county vocational school system. 

In the latest issue of “The Inkblot,’’ the school’s student-run news site, editors Cassidy DeStefano and Andrew Goudsward explain how the partial government shutdown now pushing near two weeks long has affected a project for some students at the school and some enrolled in federal internship programs.

The story also details difficulties faced by the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, a sister vocational school located on the grounds of Sandy Hook in the Gateway National Recreation Area – a casualty of the shutdown.
