Manasquan School Board President Michelle LaSala has resigned, the district confirmed.
LaSala could not be immediately reached by email Wednesday. Her name was removed from the list of board members on the district's website, leaving the board without a president until the next meeting, April 30.
LaSala is the fifth board member to step down since the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year.Â

Christine Muly, had stepped down as board president and later resigned from the board in July 2012. Muly, in a resignation letter to the board, wrote then that she felt the board was heading in the wrong direction. She also cited an "environment of uncalled for accusations" as her deciding factor for resigning.
Trish Brown and Jim Smith stepped down in May 2012. Brown said in her letter that she had too many "family and personal commitments" to fulfill the requirements of her position, while Smith's letter cited "philosophical, educational and financial differences" with the board at-large. Â

Pete Kenny resigned fall 2011.Â
The board first voted LaSala board president in February 2012, after Muly's resignation. She was chosen to continue as president for 2013 after the annual board reorganization meeting.Â
LaSala's position will be filled by an appointed candidate by the board in the coming months, and an unexpired term will be added to the November school board ballot.
