Manasquan Recreation To Hold Spring Basketball Clinic

MANASQUAN—The borough’s recreation department is offering an outdoor basketball clinic at Mallard Park for children in grade pre-K to 3rd grade later this spring.

The camp, which runs for five weeks on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from May 25 to June 23, will be run by Lisa Kukoda, the head coach of Manasquan High School’s girls’ basketball team.

The camps will be split into three groups, based on age and grade, with each group focusing on a different skill set.

The first group, for kids 4-5, will be on Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5 p.m. and will focus on basic concepts like offense and defense and court positioning along with dribbling and passing.

For kids 5-7, the second group will be on Tuesday from 5-6 p.m or Wednesdays from 4-5 p.m. . Like the first camp, Coach Kukoda will go over basic concepts and skill drills but will also lead small 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 games.

For kids in the final group, for ages 7-9, will be on Wednesdays from 5-6 p.m. and will work on in-game concepts like transition and spacing and skill development and take part in small games.

Each session is capped at 15 people, and registration costs $65 and can be done through Community Pass on the borough’s website.
