Report: Ethics Charges Dismissed Against Former Squan BOE President

Thomas Bauer cleared in conflict of interest

Former Manasquan Board of Education President Thomas Bauer has been cleared of ethics charges after a probe by a state panel, the Asbury Park Press reported.

Bauer had been charged by another board member of having a conflict of interest, accused of privately meeting with vendors to the district without approval by the entire board, the newspaper reported. But the state School Ethics Commission found the charges to be ”frivolous,” and the former fellow board member who leveled the accusations, Katherine Verd, did not show up for a hearing on the matter.

According to the Press, the state’s ruling on the matter was published July 22.
