Rita Ursula Lane, World War II Army Air Corps Veteran, Dies At 94

Services will be held on Thursday and Friday.

Rita Ursula Lane, 94, of Belmar, passed away peacefully on April 20, surrounded by her loving family at Care One in Wall Township.

Rita worked as a registered nurse at Fitkin Hospital in Neptune for over 30 years before retiring. She was an US Army Air Corps Veteran of WWII where she served as a nurse in the European theater. After the war she married Captain Edward E. Lane and they lived all over the world including, Japan, Newfoundland, California, Hawaii, Nevada and Ohio.

Rita was a long time member of the Belmar Women's Club where she served several terms as president. She was a parishioner of Saint Catharine's R.C. Church in Spring Lake.

Rita is survived by her daughters, Patrician Ann Evans and Susan Jean Fagan and her husband James A. Fagan, her grandchildren, Alison Rita Davis, Lydya Jean Evans, Cynthia Fagan Shaw and James A. Fagan Jr., her great grandchildren, Katherine Patricia Davis and Julia Aliana Davis, and her niece Claire Hughes and her husband William and their two children, Colleen and Bill Hughes.

A memorial visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar NJ. A memorial Mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. on Friday at Saint Catharine R.C. Church, 215 Essex Ave. Spring Lake NJ. Committal will follow at Saint Anne's Cemetery Wall Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations to a nursing school scholarship fund in Rita's name at Jersey Shore University Medical Center Foundation, 1345 Campus Parkway, Suite A2, Neptune NJ, 07753, would be appreciated.
