Thomas J. Moran, Longtime Jersey City Police Office, Dies At 79

Services for Belmar resident will be held on Monday and Tuesday.

Thomas J. Moran, Jr, of Belmar passed away on June 1, at Jersey Shore University Hospital in Neptune. He was 79 years old.

Thomas was a Jersey City Police Officer for 26 years before retiring in 1989. He was a lon time member of the Shoralan Club in Belmar and was a supporter of the Matt Talbot Retreat Movement. Thomas was a parishioner of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary RC Church in Avon. He was a graduate of Saint Aloysius High School in Jersey City and attended Seton Hall University in South Orange. Thomas was a proud Army veteran who served his country during the post- Korean era. He was born and raised in Jersey City, passed through Kearny and moved to Belmar in 1989.

Thomas is survived by his loving of 50 years, Alice Theresa Moran (Capman) and his dear son George Thomas Moran of Spring Lake Heights. Pop Pop will be dearly missed by his devoted grandson, William Joseph Moran.

Visitation will be on Monday, June 6 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Reilly Bonner Funeral Home, 801 D Street, Belmar, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 7 at theSaint Elizabeth of Hungary RC Church in Avon. Committal will follow at the Brigadier General William C.
