The event included a festival on both the Manasquan and Point Pleasant Beach sides of the inlet to compliment the tug event that matched teams from each town/county against one another, according to the Manasquan Inlet Intercoastal Tug- O – War Committee.

The rope used for the event was equipped with a quick disconnect to accommodate emergencies and the flow of boat traffic. The Brielle and Manasquan Fire Departments were in place with their vessels to assist with the removal and securing of the rope.
