8 Die In 4 Days In Heartbreaking NJ Crashes, Acts Of Violence

A manhunt is underway in a hit-and-run crash now that NJ is enduring another heartbreaking pattern of fatal traffic accidents and violence.

NEW JERSEY – The state is enduring another heartbreaking pattern of crashes and acts of violence now that eight people have died in a series of tragedies that took place within a four-day span.

In one case, police are asking for the public's help in finding a man involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash. A 37-year-old man was struck and killed on a New Jersey highway, police said on Monday.

A pair of Jersey Shore communities also continues to deal with a trend of fatal shootings, with the most recent happening this weekend.

Here is what has happened:

  • A 90-year-old Cherry Hill woman was killed in an accident in Margate on Friday, according to police. The woman was a passenger in a car that was being driven by an 80-year-old Cinnaminson man that collided with another car.   • Police are asking for the public's help to find a man involved in a fatal hit-and-run in West Deptford. Mark Breslin, 37 of Gloucester City, was struck and killed while walking south on Route 45 on Thursday night, West Deptford police said on Monday.   • A 52-year-old New Jersey man was killed Thursday when he struck a deer on a highway, prosecutors said. Joseph Yurga, 52, of Pequannock was operating a 1996 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he struck a deer in the area of the I-80 west intersection with Route 23 north, prosecutors said.   • A Dover teenager who was hit by a car leaving a football game has died, school officials said. Steven Gomez-Restrepo, 15, died over the weekend, Superintendent of Schools Dr. James McLaughlin said.   • One man died and another was injured after shots were fired in the area of a Jersey Shore barber shop on Friday, prosecutors said. The fatal double-shooting happened in Neptune Township around 8:11 p.m., according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. This is the second homicide at that location in the past year; three more incidents happened earlier this month in what has become a trend of gun violence in the Asbury Park and Neptune area.   • A 26-year-old Bayonne woman was killed in a possible domestic violence incident on Sunday. Diamond Robinson was pronounced dead at approximately 5:30 a.m. at the scene. Anthony Shuler, age 28, of Jersey City was soon arrested, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
  • An Atlantic County man who was driving an ATV when it crashed into a tree on Friday and killed a 34-year-old passenger has been charged with driving while intoxicated, authorities said. Michael Brown, 34, of Buena Vista was driving an ATV in the community with Christopher Vasinda, also of Buena Vista, according to nj.com.
  • A 27-year-old Mercer County man was identified Sunday night as the man who died in a shooting that left two other people injured in Trenton, according to nj.com.

Also, a Manchester woman was hospitalized in critical condition and a Barnegat man also was injured following a head-on crash that happened late Thursday afternoon on Route 530, Manchester police said. Read more: Manchester Woman 'Critical' After Head-On Crash On Route 530
