Do You Sing? Recite Poetry Out Loud? Check Out Open Mic Night

The free event is open to performers of all ages and to those who just want to watch the performances.

TOMS RIVER, NJ -- If you like to sing or you’re a practicing poet-out-loud, the Toms River branch of the Ocean County Library invites you to participate in its open mic nights.

Library officials say the performance night -- the first Wednesday of every month -- has been held for nearly three years now.

Performances run from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and sign-ups begin at 6:30 p.m. on a first-come, first-served basis. Library officials say they welcome a variety of performances, from musical to comedy, poetry to literature readings.

“We provide two microphones, two instrument cables, mic stands, piano, and the house sound system. Instruments are to be plugged into our house sound board; no need to bring an amplifier,” officials said.

Acts that can set up easily and break down quickly are preferred, library officials said.
