MANCHESTER, NJ — Three incumbents have been returned to the Manchester Township Council according to unofficial vote tallies in the 2020 election.

Samuel Fusaro, James Vaccaro and Robert Hudak were the leading vote-getters, according to the unofficial results from the Ocean County Board of Elections.

Fusaro received 15,943 votes, Hudak has 15,901 votes and Vaccaro has 15,745 votes. Joseph T. Hankins, a retired Manchester police officer and longtime volunteer firefighter, has 8,013, according to the unofficial tallies.

The vote totals could yet change as election officials have to count mail-in ballots that are received by 8 p.m on Nov. 10; provisional ballots cast by voters who went to polling locations on Tuesday will be counted once officials confirm those voters did not return mail-in ballots. It's unclear how many ballots remain outstanding out of Manchester's 38,051 registered voters.

Fusaro, who currently serves as council president, has been on the Manchester council for 25 years. Vaccaro has served two terms, and Hudak was seeking his first full term on the board.
