A Love Letter To Ron

After hitting it off on a blind date, this couple has been together for nearly 55 years.

To celebrate Valentine’s Day, we asked Patch readers to write a love letter to that special someone and let us deliver it. This is Betsi Westling’s love letter to her husband, Ron:

"Dear Ron,

This Valentine’s Day we celebrate close to 55 years of loving each other. We met on a blind date as a young woman and an Army PFC who was stationed at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. To say that it was love at first sight is not a lie. You proposed to me the first date -- well, almost. You said if you weren’t in the service, you would ask me to marry you that night. I replied, 'That is a heck of a proposition.'

We continued to date whenever you had leave, and on August 3, 1964, we were married by a justice of the peace in Glenridge, New Jersey. The rest is history. Four sons later and a move back to about the same area where you were stationed, I love you much more than you could ever imagine.

Your wife,
Tillie"
