Manchester Man Dies In Car-Van Crash On Lacey Road: Police

The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries, police said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township man died Wednesday following a crash on Lacey Road near Manchester Road, Manchester Township police said.

Joseph Delorenzo, 75, of the Whiting section of Manchester, was unresponsive when police responded to the 8:44 a.m. call about the crash, Capt. Todd Malland said. Police performed life-saving measures to try to revive him until paramedics arrives and took him to Community Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities believe he may have had a medical episode right before the crash.

Malland said the investigation so far showed Delorenzo was driving a 2017 Hyundai Sonata west on Lacey Road when he crossed the centerline into the eastbound lane and collided with the driver’s side of a 2005 Ford Econoline van that was being driven east by Christian Lecomte Jr., 43, of Browns Mills.

Lecomte suffered only minor injuries during the collision and refused medical attention at the scene, Malland said.

Assisting at the scene were EMTs from Quality Medical Transport, paramedics from MONOC, and members of the Whiting Volunteer First Aid Squad.
