Manchester Motorcyclist Killed In Route 539 Crash: Police
Authorities say the motorcyclist apparently lost control of his bike, which led to the crash on Sunday.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester man died Sunday morning when his motorcycle collided with a pair of cars on Route 539 at Cherry Street, Manchester police said Monday.
Herbert W. Genne Jr., 65, of Whiting, died at the scene of the 11:30 a.m. crash, Manchester Lt. Vincent Manco said.
Genne was riding a 2007 Honda motorcycle south on Route 539 when he apparently lost control of the motorcycle and hit a 2004 Jeep Liberty that was stopped in the southbound lane waiting to turn left onto Cherry Street, Manco said.

After hitting the Jeep, Genne continued into the opposing lane of traffic, where he was hit by a 2017 Lexus NX200T, Manco said.
The Jeep was driven by Daniel Dewey, 41, of Browns Mills, and Gail T. Lamanna, 62, of Allentown, was driving the Lexus, Manco said.

Genne died at the scene despite rescue efforts, Manco said. Dewey and Lamanna were both uninjured in the crash and refused medical treatment.
The road was closed for several hours following the crash while the investigation was conducted.
Assisting at the scene were members of the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, the Ocean County Medical Examiner’s Office, MONOC Paramedics, Quality Medical Transport and the Whiting Volunteer First Aid Squad.
The investigation is continuing but driver error on the part of the motorcyclist appears to be a contributing factor in the crash, Manco said. Patrolman Anderson, Sgt. Ellis and Patrolman Hoydis are investigating.
