Manchester Moves Fireworks To August
The coronavirus pandemic led the township to move its fireworks to the end of the summer concert series. The concerts begin Saturday.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township's fireworks display will go on in 2021, closing out the summer concert series.
While the township normally has its fireworks at its Manchester Day celebration, the timing of restrictions being lifted in the coronavirus pandemic created scheduling problems, township officials said.
Tracey Lynch, Manchester Township recreation director, said the township hires a Pennsylvania company to put on its fireworks display yearly.

"In April, we were pressed by the fireworks company to confirm our originally scheduled date of June 26 because they had multiple requests from out-of state towns for the June 26th date," Lynch said. "Since Governor Murphy hadn’t lifted the outdoor restrictions at that time we opted to move them to the last concert in hopes that the restrictions would be lifted by then."
The fireworks will be Aug. 25 instead, she said.
