Manchester Police To Hold Youth Police Academy

Applications for the 2021 youth police academy are available now; middle school students are eligible.

MANCHESTER, NJ — The Manchester Township Police Department is accepting applications for its summer youth police academy.

The program is for children who will be in the sixth, seventh or eighth grades in September 2021 and is designed to operate like a police academy for those interested in a career in law enforcement.

The youth academy will be held at police headquarters from Aug. 2-5.

The program teaches the cadets various police procedures, the history of the Manchester Township Police, and includes tours of the police headquarters, and a field trip to the Ocean County Police and Fire academies.

The academy will "provide them with comprehensive understanding of what it takes to succeed in the profession of law enforcement," the police department said.

The application is available on the police department's website here. It also can be picked up in the main office of any Manchester Township School.

Applications must be submitted no later than July 2; completed applications should be returned to Manchester Township Police Headquarters located at 1 Colonial Drive.
