MANCHESTER, NJ – July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel or postpone the annual Fourth of July events, including Manchester.

Manchester Day has been on hold, and the fireworks that accompany the day have been rescheduled for Aug 26, and will follow the concert featuring Julian & Dominique and Garden State Radio. Although Manchester’s fireworks have been postponed, there are still places to see fireworks for the Fourth.

In Toms River, Sipe Adjustment Group is sponsoring fireworks at 9 p.m. on July 4 at Shelter Cove. The site will likely fill up quickly because of social distancing requirements; events are limited to 500 people. But the fireworks should be visible from the barrier island and, for those who have access, boaters should have a good view on Barnegat Bay.

Sipe Adjustment Group has partnered with WRAT 95.9 FM for the audio choreographed display. And while Shelter Cove Park is small and will likely fill up quickly, they are suggesting other parks and spots where the view should be good:

  • Skyview Park, 811 Vaughn Ave., Toms River
  • Parking Lots at Indian Hill Road and Hooper Avenue in Toms River
  • Silver Bay waterfront in Toms River
  • Chadwick Beach
  • Lavallette, Ortley Beach & Seaside Heights bay fronts
  • Ocean Beach 1, 2, & 3
  • Normandy Beach

The Lakewood BlueClaws are hosting a fireworks display on July 3 at FirstEnergy Park, New Hampshire and Cedar Bridge avenues in Lakewood. Tickets to that event — both inside the stadium and in the parking lot — are sold out, however you may be able to see at least part of the display from some of the parking lots at businesses near the stadium.
