Superintendent David Trethaway, in a letter to the district Monday, again urged parents and staff to follow health and safety guidelines in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic because the school district continues to see an increase in the number of cases reported to the district.

Trethaway said there were 14 cases of the virus among students and staff reported to the district Dec. 14 through 20. They were: a Ridgeway Elementary School student, one Ridgeway staff member, two high school students, one middle school staff member, two Regional Day staff members, two Manchester Township Elementary students, and one MTES staff member during the week, plus a district staff member whose assignment wasn't specified, one Regional Day Staff member and a Manchester Township Elementary staff member, all three of whom reported a positive test result over the weekend, and one transportation staff member reported a positive test from the previous week.

All students or staff members who were identified as close contacts were notified and asked to quarantine for the required number of days. All cases have been reported to the Ocean County Board of Health.

The district is shifting to completely remote instruction on Wednesday, heading into winter break.

Meals for the holiday weeks will be distributed as follows:

Students who are in school Tuesday (along with those who were in school Monday) will get all of their meals for this week in school.

On Wednesday, parents can pick up meals for winter break's week off at the middle school and high school from 9 a.m. to noon. The district will provide all the meals for the vacation week at that pick-up.
