Manchester Schools To Host Freshman Orientation

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township High School will hold its freshman orientation programs Monday and Wednesday, the school district announced.

While incoming freshmen from Manchester Township Middle School and Lakehurst Elementary School will have their orientation in person, parents and guardians will have virtual programs, the district said.

The virtual orientation and question-and-answer session for parents and guardians will be held in two virtual sessions on Monday, arranged alphabetically by the students' last names.

Manchester High School administration will go over the high school's academic programs, including graduation requirements, the special subject area academies, dual enrollment classes with Ocean County College, the Advanced Placement program, as well as athletics, extracurricular opportunities, and expectations for high school students.

The first virtual session will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. for families of students with last names of A through L, and a second session from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. will be held for families of students with last names M through Z.

On Wednesday the in-person orientation program for incoming freshmen will be held, at Manchester Township High School, with multiple sessions due to social distancing. It will be for students only.

Students should bring their school-issued Chromebooks to the orientation.

The students will meet the high school administration, counselors, social workers, teachers and other Manchester High School students during the orientation.

"They will move through various rotations to learn more about our Hawk culture and see some of the many great opportunities offered," the orientation announcement said.

There will be an opportunity to tour the high school, following a sample student schedule, and visit classroom.

Students must wear masks must be worn at all times while attending the freshman orientation.
