Manchester Township Parents: 'The Board of Education is Failing'

Parents concerned with virtual learning send letter to Superintendent of Schools

Robert Frazee, with wife Tracey Phillips-Frazee, is putting the pressure on the Manchester Board of Education to make a change that would benefit students. Four of their children attend Manchester schools at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, and are struggling with the district’s current methods of virtual learning.

Frazee brought the matter to the attention of David Trethaway, Superintendent of Manchester Schools. Other parents have taken to social media to voice their concerns.

Although other school districts are using live video chats to conduct lessons similar to in-class teaching, the Manchester School District has chosen not to utilize this option. Most teachers are sharing pre-recorded videos and lessons through Google Classroom. Live video chats would promote peer interaction, in-depth discussions, and ease the stress off of parents who are now expected to help their children learn new material in difficult subjects such as math.

In his letter to Trethaway, Frazee points out that the inability to ask teachers questions and receive answers in real-time has caused his children to struggle with completing their assignments.

Frazee urges other concerned parents to share his letter “anywhere,” stating, “I don’t want to seem ungrateful, however, I feel we can do much better than we are.”
