Manchester Urges Residents To Stay Home As Nor'easter Continues
Manchester Township Schools will have fully remote instruction on Tuesday because of the storm, officials said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester Township will continue to have accumulating snow on Tuesday, and officials are urging residents to stay off the roads if possible due to the continuing effects of Monday's nor'easter.
Temperature changes that led to rain in the coastal parts of Ocean County prompted a warning from the Ocean County Sheriff's Office of icy roads as a refreeze was likely.
The concern about icy roads and continuing snowfall led Manchester Township School District officials to announce Tuesday would be another fully remote instruction day.

Ocean County Vocational Technical Schools students also will have remote instruction on Tuesday, the vo-tech schools announced.
Manchester Township postponed its Monday recycling collections, pushing them to Saturday, but there were no announcements about Tuesday's collections.

The National Weather Service did not have reported snow accumulations for Manchester as of 8 p.m. Monday, but a report from Jackson said 7.3 inches had fallen there. Inland areas were receiving more than those right on the water, where rain fell much of the day.
Officials will be hoping there are no power outages on Tuesday. An outage in the Whiting area left 3,000 homes without electrical service for several hours. Residents posting on Mayor Ken Palmer's official Facebook page about 5 p.m. were urging him to press Jersey Central Power & Light to get power restored, noting that many of the residents live in homes that are wholly reliant on electricity for their heat and cooking. By 8 p.m. fewer than 5 Manchester homes remained without electricity. JCP&L said a vehicle crash caused the outage. Details on the crash were not immediately available.
