Manchester's Annual Coat Drive Has Two More Weeks

They hope to collect more than 600 coats this year, organizers said.

MANCHESTER, NJ — The falling leaves and the Christmas decorations showing up in the stores, it's a reminder to break out the winter coats.

With that in mind, Manchester Township is asking residents to again help the needy by donating coats to the township's annual coat drive.

"We are again participating in the Jersey Cares 21st Annual Coat Drive," the township said in news release. "Last year we collected well over 600 coats and we are looking to collect that again or more."

Coats are needed for men, women and kids, any and all sizes and styles. Snowsuits also are needed, especially for the kids. Both new coats and those that are used but are clean and in good condition will be accepted, organizers said.

"If you are cleaning out your closets, or have treated yourself to a new coat for the winter, or your kids have outgrown their coats, please think of dropping off the old ones at our bin located in the lobby at Town Hall," organizers said.
