Obituary: Robert Weinberg, 76, Was Manchester Little League Coach

Robert, known as Bob, was am Air Force veteran and served in the Vietnam War and worked at the Asbury Park Press in the print shop.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Robert L. Weinberg, 76, of Manchester, passed away Nov. 11 at Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus, Lakewood.

Bob was an Air Force veteran serving in Duluth, Minn., and Thule, Greenland, during the Vietnam War. He worked in various pressman positions and his last job was at the Asbury Park Press, Asbury Park and Neptune, in the Marketing Print Shop. He later was a school bus aide.

He was a coach and umpire with the Manchester Little League, where his daughter Dayna played on his team the Yankees, during the early 80s. His other daughter, Shari, was his score keeper. He was also a paid umpire with the Shore Umpires Association. He was an avid Yankee fan.

While serving in the Air Force, he met his wife. They wrote to each other for 3 years and when he came home on leave, met face to face. They were married 10 months later.

Born in Newark, he lived in Montclair, Verona, Menlo Park, and Iselin before moving to Manchester in 1976.

His son-in-law, Rob Miller, died in 2012. Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ronna Wolfson Weinberg, Manchester; a daughter, Shari Miller; a daughter, Dayna Weinberg and her husband, John Daly; a brother, Sandy Weinberg and his wife, Justine; four grandchildren, and his brother-in-law, Michael Wolfson and his companion, Barbara Rudolph.
