Police are urging motorists to avoid the area for the next few hours.

MANCHESTER, NJ — Manchester police are asking motorists to avoid Route 539 and Route 70 on Tuesday afternoon due to a traffic signal outage.
In a Nixle alert, police said the signal outage is causing heavy traffic in the area and significant delays.
There were no details on what caused the signal outage; road crews have been working on Route 70 overnight on a project to widen the westbound shoulder and signal improvements at the intersection are part of the project.
