WATCH: Sailor From Manchester Surprises Mom For Christmas

When the Manchester man found out he was coming home for the holidays, he turned it into a special moment.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Manchester Township woman received an extra-special Christmas present when her son surprised her with a visit.

Daniel Depalma, who enlisted the U.S. Navy in August 2015, currently is stationed at the U.S. Naval Base at Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, had not been home since September, Depalma told the Patch. But he found out shortly before Christmas that he would be coming home.

"I didn't know I was coming home until the morning of the 22nd," said Depalma, an E-2 fireman apprentice. He arrived in New Jersey the morning of Dec. 23, he said.

"The only one who knew I was coming home was my dad, Vito," he said. They drove from the airport to the Wawa in Jackson where his mother, Lisa Depalma, works.

"When we arrived at Mom's work my dad went in and told her to come outside because her Christmas present was outside," David Depalma said.
